Challenge

Studying isn’t only about courses, grades or career pathways. The broader student experience is now a key decision factor, especially in a competitive market. For Flinders, the challenge was to position its unique location, surrounded by coastline, hills, wine regions and character-filled smaller communities, as a compelling reason to choose the university and build a life here. We’re here to take this wonder and turn it into a series of videos loosely based around the lives of students at Flinders University.

Project outline and strategy:

We wanted to showcase how study and lifestyle seamlessly come together at Flinders. The challenge was defining the format, not purely tourism, not purely education, but something in between. With multiple locations across the coast, hills and local communities, and several videos to deliver, our strategy centred on creating a cohesive storytelling approach that celebrated place, people and possibility in one unified workflow.

Creative Direction

We approached production with a modular shoot style, built around a set of key frames and angles at every location. Wherever possible, we gathered extra visual “ingredients” to enable match cuts and rapid flash sequences in the edit.

We planned for dynamic supers, combining text placed in 3D planes with selective rotoscoping to embed typography within the environment. Intercutting aerial footage throughout the timeline also helped relieve the density of fast-moving visuals, giving the viewer a breath while maintaining pace.

Results

Both the hero film and the individual stories brought their own energy to the mix. The hero piece delivered a bold, cinematic impression of Adelaide’s lifestyle and culture, while the individual narratives grounded the campaign in real student experiences, authentic, personal, and varied.

Together, they captured the spirit of living in Adelaide: a place where ambition is not at odds with lifestyle. We were intentional in presenting the study environment as both sophisticated and inviting, modern campuses, warm social spaces, and the city’s unique blend of culture and nature always within reach. By leaning into that duality, we showed that students do not have to compromise. Here, they can strive, succeed, and still feel at home.
