James is the driven and passionate founder of Insider Guides and the International Education Association of Australia's (IEAA) Young Professionals Group, and winner of the IEAA Best Practice Award for International Education in 2019. James’ expertise in international education, building brands, product design, strategy and sales fuels Insider Studios, but he’ll always make time for a good cup of coffee and to chat with any of the office dogs.

Our expert in travel guides and street culture, Production Director, Sam, co-founded Insider Guides in 2007. His background in graphic design and photography and innate love of exploring the world has taken Sam from producing brand and travel materials for major media outlets, international tourism commissions , and publishing his own his own travel series with a major publisher. Sam is the tech-savvy, creatively-driven and podcast-loving production head, ready to turn your ideas into reality.

Having lived between Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia, Australia and England, our General Manager of Insider Guides, Alex, has an intrinsic understanding and appreciation of international culture, travel and global affairs. With a background in journalism, television and digital media production, and marketing, Alex’s goal is to produce unique, creative and thoughtful content for international students. She is also the unofficial office DJ (no requests, sorry) and our resident quiz master.

A writer, musician and multimedia content producer, Josh is incredibly well-versed in all creative areas. In addition to his work with Insider Studios, he also runs his own art media project called Sunny Side Uploads, which specialises in videography and live streaming musical performances. Boasting a versatile skill set, Josh adapts his creative process to suit the unique needs of his clients and their audiences. Josh knows firsthand that every day brings a new professional challenge and opportunity, making him the perfect person to help you with yours.

The team’s resident Master of Business candidate, Raph, applies her logistical skills and systems thinking to her role as the Insider Studios dedicated Project Manager. Now working part-time on her return from maternity leave, Raph is often working in the background to keep tasks and client milestones on track. With her years of experience as the busy Dean of a tertiary residential college, Raph is exactly the kind of cool, calm and collected person necessary to expertly manage any and all ventures. Her background in cultural tourism and college life are indispensable in understanding the needs of international students. As if that wasn’t enough, Raph is also a Puppy in Training Border for Guide Dogs Australia.

With a background in journalism and communications, Emily assists the content team across all areas of writing. She is a passionate and dynamic storyteller, with an avidness for keeping up-to-date with local and global events, and applies this alongside a strong sense of integrity to deliver honest and equally engaging news. Emily was fortunate enough to spend a summer in Italy studying film and narrative, developing an understanding of the challenges faced when settling into a new city. Outside of work, you can find Emily winding down with some yoga, or letting off steam watching live music.

John graduated from the University of Adelaide with a Bachelor of Media, having majored in graphic design. There, he worked with the Adelaide University Union before coming on board with Insider Guides and Insider Studios. Our in-house visionary, John turns ideas into stunning visual products across both print and digital media. With a keen interest in graphic layouts and a thirst for knowledge, he is always looking for new and creative ways to develop visual content. After a long day’s work, John can be found going out for a run or kicking back and watching a movie.
