Transforming course content into career reports at UTS

Client:

University of Technology Sydney (UTS)

Project type:

Editorial

The problem

UTS faced a familiar challenge: their course-level PDF information packs, long the go-to downloadable resource, were being phased out and were no longer meeting the needs of prospective students. But, what should replace them?

Project outline and strategy:

These Info Packs had been widely used by postgraduate students during the awareness and consideration stages to understand course content and outcomes. Despite being a valuable lead generation tool, they were static in both content and format and unresponsive to market needs.

Our research and UTS's own student journey mapping confirmed that employability is one of the strongest drivers in a prospective student’s decision-making process. Students want to know:

“If I study this course, what kind of job can I get, and who hires graduates like me?”

Marketing teams needed a content product that was:

  • More student-focused
  • Sharper in design and structure
  • Adaptable across faculties and courses
  • Useful beyond the website – including for agent visits, expos and direct email outreach
  • Built to highlight UTS’s edge in work-integrated learning, graduate employability and industry partnerships.

The solution

Insider worked with UTS to design and produce a series of Career Reports – concise, beautifully designed PDFs to help students quickly understand:

Job outcomes and career pathways

Starting salaries and industry trends

Work-integrated learning and internship opportunities

Companies that hire UTS graduates

Real graduate and industry testimonials

Course highlights and unique advantages

Each report was tailored to a specific career, aligned with the tone of voice of UTS’s new website, and designed to be actionable, scannable and genuinely helpful to prospective students.

The process

We made it easy for UTS.

  • Can be easily updated and reused across campaigns
  • Is being used across multiple channels – digital, in-person and agent communications
